Ex-Eagles Coordinator Advises Rohr : Stop Inviting 'Junk Players' To The National Team
Published: June 30, 2017
Borrowing the words of former Inter Milan defender Taribo West, ex-Super Eagles coordinator Emmanuel Attah has advised Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr to stop inviting 'junk players' to the national team.
The Super Eagles recently lost 2-0 to South Africa in an African Cup of Nations qualifier, with several untested players yet to make their competitive debuts initially named on the roster.
''Bringing in new players for every other game is killing us, case in point, the defeat to South Africa,'' Emmanuel Attah told Brila FM.
''We should ensure that any player invited to Super Eagles now must be exceptionally good.
''The unfortunate thing now is that, truly, we can't have the bulk of Super Eagles players from the NPFL.''
As many as ten players made their maiden appearance for the senior national team in Nigeria's friendly versus Togo , prior to the meeting with South Africa on June 10.
