Chelsea Ahead Of Premier League Rivals In Race For Signature Of Ex-African Footballer of the Year
Published: July 16, 2017
Premier League champions Chelsea are working on a deal to sign former African Footballer of the Year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Blues manager Antonio Conte is in the market for a proven marksman, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Diego Costa and the club's failure to land the signature of Romelu Lukaku.
The Daily Mirror has reported that Chelsea will offer 65 million pounds for Borussia Dortmund's Aubameyang after an approach for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata was rejected.
Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, PSG, AC Milan and Tianjin Quanjian have been credited with an interest in the Gabon international this summer, but Chelsea have emerged as frontrunners for his signature.
Aubameyang netted 40 goals in all competitions last season for Borussia Dortmund, including 31 in the Bundesliga.
