Done Deal : Talented Nigerian Defender Signs New Contract With Liverpool
Published: July 17, 2017
The highly-rated Nigerian defender Emeka Obi has penned a fresh deal with Premier League side Liverpool.
According to Youth Hawk, the center back is among The Reds 15 first-year scholars for the 2017-2018 season, and it is believed that he has committed his future to the club for the next two seasons.
Born June 6, 2001, Obi agreed terms with Liverpool in October 2016, and the Anfield side reportedly paid a six-figure sum to his former club Bury FC.
He became the youngest player in history to represent the first team of the Shakers when he made his debut in their 4-1 victory over Morecambe in the Checkatrade Trophy on 30 August 2016.
Obi will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of England U20 World Cup-winning winger Sheyi Ojo, who penned a scholarship deal with Liverpool four years ago before making his competitive debut in January 2016.
