Nigerian Striker Bags Brace As Manchester United Record Impressive Win In Super CupNI
Published: July 25, 2017
Young Nigerian duo Ademipo Odubeko and Shola Shoretire were named in Manchester United U15s starting XI for the second straight game at the ongoing SuperCupNI in Northern Ireland.
The Red Devils recorded an impressive 4-2 victory over Co Fermanagh at Showgrounds, Ballymena on Tuesday evening.
Odubeko gave United the lead when he was played in before slotting into the net, and he would have increased their advantage moments later, but the goalkeeper produced a save to deny him.
Manchester United went into the interval level, goalkeeper Ondrej Mastny spilled a free-kick and Eimhin Curran was fortunate to take advantage.
Few minutes after the restart Odubeko restored his team's one-goal advantage, the opponents equalized again, before goals from Teden Mengi and Charlie Wellens sealed a win for the Old Trafford outfit.
Nigerian trio Ayodeji Sotona, Ademipo Odubeko and Shola Shoretire are playing with the number eight, nine and ten kits at the SuperCupNI.
Four players of Nigerian descent could be involved on Wednesday, July 26 when Manchester United tackle Roland Idowu's Southampton at Showgrounds, Coleraine.
