Tottenham 2 Roma 3 : Dele Stars, Onomah Starts, Sadiq & Nura Non-Playing Subs
Published: July 26, 2017
Tottenham Hotpsur lost 3-2 to Italian club AS Roma in their second pre-season match staged at the Red Bull Arena (Harrison, New Jersey) on Tuesday night local time.
England U20 World Cup-winning midfielder Josh Onomah started for the Londoners along with Three Lions sensation Dele Alli, but the two Nigerians on the books of the Giallorossi, Sadiq Umar and Nura Abdullahi, were non-playing substitutes.
Marco Tumminello came off the bench in the 62nd minute and clinched a winner for the Italians in the second minute of stoppage time.
Diego Perotti converted a penalty in the 13th minute to give Roma the lead, before Cengiz doubled the advantage midway through the second half.
In the tenth minute, Alli saw his shot saved by the goalkeeper and he would have equalized on the hour mark but his 20-yard effort was deflected behind for a corner.
Winks reduced the deficit three minutes from time and Spurs were back on level terms through a scrambled goal from Vincent Jansen in the first minute of stoppage time.
But Tumminello had the last laugh for Roma when he scored just after the kick-off.
