Published: August 02, 2017
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is set to hand a debut to his latest recruit Nemanja Matić in Wednesday night's friendly against Italian Serie A club Sampdoria.
The former Chelsea midfielder was in the squad that traveled to Ireland on Wednesday morning, ahead of the friendly at Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
Matic was training on his own prior to his move to Old Trafford, and met up with his new teammates for the first time on Tuesday during training.
Fit-again Juan Mata and Ander Herrera have been included in the provisional squad to face Sampdoria, and both might be handed game time against the Italians as they bid to improve on their fitness.
Manchester United have won five of their six pre-season friendlies so far, and lost narrowly to Barcelona in the International Champions Cup about a week ago.
