Iheanacho Returns To Leicester Training Ahead Of Potential Debut Vs Arsenal
Published: August 07, 2017
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho resumed training with Leicester City on Monday ahead of a potential debut against Arsenal this coming Friday.
The former Manchester City starlet picked up a knock in the Foxes 2-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in a friendly on Friday, which led to his substitution 17 minutes after he stepped out onto the King Power Stadium turf.
Despite Iheanacho spending few minutes on the pitch, manager Craig Shakespeare was delighted to see Vardy and the Nigerian combine so effectively.
Shakespeare said : ''[Vardy] wanted to get back on the scoresheet and it was very unselfish of Kelechi to lay it on a plate for him.
"As somebody coming on to make his debut, he could easily have been a bit more selfish there.''
Iheanacho is expected to be named in the Nigerian squad for two World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon in September.
