American-Born Nigerian Midfielder Delighted After Stunning Strike For MK Dons
Published: August 09, 2017
American youth international of Nigerian parentage Gboly Ariyibi has spoken of his happiness after netting the winning goal in MK Don's 1-0 win over Forest Green Rovers in the Carabao Cup.
A brilliant 25-yard strike from the Nottingham Forest loanee in the 110th minute handed MK Dons a narrow win at The New Lawn (Nailsworth, Gloucestershire) on Tuesday night.
''I am obviously delighted. I had a chance to put it away in the last nine minutes,'' Ariyibi said to mkdons.com.
''The team dug deep to go for it in extra time and it was good to get the winning goal, so I'm delighted.
''We knew before the game it was going to be tough but we dug deep. Overall, we played really well as a team.''
Ariyibi, 22, is a product of the famous Southampton Academy and is eligible to turn out for the national teams of Nigeria, United States and England.
