Talented Tottenham Hotspur Nigerian Midfielder Backed To Shine At Aston VillaTottenham Hotspur's England U20 international of Nigerian parentage Josh Onomah has been backed to shine at Aston Villa by midfielder Glenn Whelan.

Having made a couple of first-team appearances off the bench for Spurs in the Premier League, Onomah has gone out on loan to Aston Villa to gain match experience.

''I think he will be a very good player for us and I believe he can be someone who creates and scores plenty of chances for us,'' Whelan said to Aston Villa's official website.

''I am happy to encourage him. I have played a lot of games at this level and if I can pass anything on to him, I’m more than happy to.

''I have already told him not to get discouraged if things don’t come off in games, I have told him to keep going.''

Onomah, 20, has been involved in the two competitive games contested by Aston Villa in the new season.
