Chelsea surrendered a two-goal lead before losing 5-4 on penalties to League One club Plymouth Argyle in an EFL Trophy clash at Home Park on Tuesday night.
England U20 international of Nigerian descent Fikayo Tomori and England U18 star Tariq Uwakwe (new Obi Mikel) are eligible and have been registered for the competition but did not make the Blues 18-man squad.
The 16-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi, the youngest player on the pitch, broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute, before finding the net again from a free-kick in the 74th minute.
The goals from the England U17 attacking midfielder of Ghanaian descent were cancelled out by Alex Fletcher in the last two minutes.
All the five Plymouth Argyle players converted their spot kicks, while Jacob Maddox missed for Chelsea.
