Recuperating Chippa United star Daniel Akpeyi is expected to be one of the first players to arrive the Super Eagle camp in Uyo, ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Cameroon next Friday.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands the Nigeria goalkeeper will hop on a plane bound for Abuja on Friday evening, and the plane will touch down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Saturday morning.
Earlier, it was a foregone conclusion that Akpeyi will get the nod from manager Gernot Rohr to start the game against the Indomitable Lions, but there is a new development.
The experienced goalkeeper suffered a training ground injury days leading up to Chippa United's Premier Soccer League clash against AmaZulu on Tuesday, August 22, and will be observed by national team medics at the start of training on Monday or Tuesday.
Akpeyi has started three of the last four matches contested by the Super Eagles.
