Published: September 01, 2017
Chelsea technical director and former Nigeria international Michael Emenalo was pleased with the signings of Danny Drinkwater and Davide Zappacosta on transfer deadline day.
Drinkwater ended his association with Leicester City after committing his future to Chelsea for the next five years, while right wing-back Zappacosta penned a four-year deal.
Shortly after the transfers were completed, Emenalo told Chelsea's official website : ''Davide is a player of international calibre who Antonio Conte knows well and we have been aware of for some time.
''We are very pleased to be able to bring him to the club and believe he will become an important member of the squad''.
He added : ''Danny is not only a Premier League winner but also has Champions League experience which will be invaluable for us this season.
''He is a typically combative English midfielder with a cultured passing technique and his arrival significantly strengthens our midfield options''.
Davide Zappacosta will challenge Nigeria international Victor Moses, who is deployed as a wing-back by manager Antonio Conte, for a starting spot.
