Cameroon Star Siani : Two Defeats Against Nigeria, Something Has To Be Done
Published: September 03, 2017
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, K.V. Oostende midfielder Sébastien Siani says the Indomitable Lions are targeting a win in tomorrow's World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Yaounde.
Siani was in the Cameroon squad that were humiliated 3-0 by the Super Eagles in a friendly staged in Belgium in October 2015, and also made the starting XI in their 4-0 loss to the West African powerhouse on Friday.
''For me, it has been two defeats against Nigeria. But they are totally different. The first was a friendly game, and Friday was an important game and something has to be done,'' Siani told reporters, including camfoot.com.
''Unfortunately, we could not manage the game. It is a defeat of the whole team, which allowed us to know our level and to know that to win a match, we must do it together.
''Individuality, does not make a match, but with the group, we can go further. We did not play at our level. Everyone was doing their own thing, we were no longer in a team. ''
Added Siani : ''We went along like sheep going to the slaughterhouse, and it did not favour us. We are very aware of what happened.
''We were not good. We are really disappointed with the result. But we must not remain there to weep. We are indomitable Lions, and we must show another face.''
Meanwhile, Stoke City striker Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting has been ruled out of Monday's game after picking up an injury in the first leg in Uyo.
