Published: September 06, 2017
Chelsea have announced the signing of Norway international Maria Thorisdottir ahead of the new Women’s Super League season.
The 24-year-old has penned a deal that will keep her at the Blues until 2019, and joins the London club from Norwegian Toppserien outfit Klepp IL, whom she represented for seven years.
In her first words, Thorisdottir told Chelsea's official website :''I am very proud to be part of Chelsea Ladies, it is a big dream coming true and I am really looking forward to getting to know all the girls and being part of the team.
''I have heard a lot of good things about the group. It was an easy choice. I know Maren Mjelde and she is a very good football player and a person, so it is nice to have her here.
''I am maybe like a Viking. I like to go hard into duels, win the ball in the air and try to play my team-mates in well .''
Thorisdottir, who is a defender, played two matches for Norway in the 2017 UEFA Women's Championship.
