Published: September 07, 2017
Nigerian-born striker Eniola Aluko was among the scorers for Chelsea Ladies in their 8-1 rout of Sporting Lisbon in a pre-season friendly ahead of the new FA Women's Super League campaign.
The friendly on Wednesday was the Blues final pre-season game before their opening game in the WSL against Bristol City on September 24.
Aluko wrapped up the scoring with Chelsea's eight goal and was also credited with an assist in the routine win over the Portuguese opponents.
Fran Kirby, Ji So-Yun and Ramona Bachmann helped themselves to two goals each, while Karen Carney was also on target for Emma Hayes's side.
Norway international defender Maria Thorisdottir made her unofficial debut for the London club, same day Chelsea announced her arrival from Norwegian team Klepp.
Eniola Aluko, whose younger brother Sone represents the Super Eagles, was the top scorer in the WSL back in 2016, but failed to register her name on the score-sheet in the Spring Series.
