Iheanacho Targets Win Against Zambia : We Are Top But It's Not Over Yet
Published: September 16, 2017
Leicester City number eight Kelechi Iheanacho is aware that the Super Eagles need to beat Zambia in their next competitive match to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Despite concerns about his fitness, the ex-Manchester City striker came off the bench in the two matches against Cameroon earlier this month and got on the score-sheet against the African champions in Uyo.
''Playing for my country is one thing I dream of and I’m happy to play for them. It is a scene of joy every time I put on the green and white shirt,'' Iheanacho told lcfc.com.
''I feel very happy to get a goal against Cameroon after coming on in the second half. It was great for me to get on the scoresheet.
''We’re top of the table but it’s not over yet. We still have Zambia to play at home next month, so we hope we get the points we need to qualify for the World Cup.''
Kelechi Iheanacho is in line to make his third appearance for Leicester City when they face Huddersfield Town on Saturday.
