Nigeria World Cup Star Sees Red For First Time In Qatar Stars League
Published: November 04, 2017
Michael Babatunde grabbed the headlines in Qatar, but for all the wrong reasons as he was sent off for two bookable offenses in Qatar SC 2-0 defeat to Rayyan SC in the Qatari top-flight on Friday afternoon.
The 24-year old picked up two yellows in the space of two minutes, first for a foul in the 37th minute and the other for dissent and perceived overreaction towards the referee onto the next minute.
It was the first time the Super Eagles midfielder would be dismissed in the Qatar Stars League, having featured in all seven games for the Gabriel Calderón-led side this season as they sit bottom of of the 12-team league log in the division with just a win to their name this term.
And his poor discipline would eventually contrive to cost his team dear as goals from Musa Haroon and Rodrigo Barbosa Tabata consigned The Doha Kings to their fourth defeat of the league season.
Previously, Babatunde defended the colours of FC Kryvbas, FC Volyn Lutsk, FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Raja Casablanca before his switch to Qatar SC in the summer of 2016.
