Ex-Chelsea Trialist Dubbed The New Obafemi Martins Returns To Barnsley
Published: November 04, 2017
Victor Adeboyejo has returned to EFL Championship club Barnsley as he continues his search for a new employer.
The Nigerian-born frontman had tried his luck at Premier League champions Chelsea in October but nothing has come out of it, at the moment.
While training with The Blues Development squad, Adeboyejo featured in two games in the Premier League 2, against Swansea City and West Ham United.
The 19-year-old started and put in a full shift as Barnsley U23s were held to a 2-2 draw by Nottingham Forest in the Professional Development League on Friday afternoon.
The talented striker has explained why he models his game after the prolific Super Eagles star Obafemi Martins.
''Obafemi Martins was one Nigerian striker that I thought was good and I tried to pick up things from him that I can add to my game in terms of his pace and power,'' Adeboyejo told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday have been credited with an interest in the former Arsenal schoolboy in recent weeks.
