Only 7 Games In 3 Years : Victor Moses Clears The Air Why He Didn't Play Enough Games For Nigeria
Published: November 12, 2017
Victor Moses has explained that he has not played enough games for the Nigerian national teams in the last few years due to injury, amid rumours that he deliberately skipped international fixtures.
The Chelsea number fifteen has worn the Nigerian jersey only seven times from a possible 27 since he went the distance against France in the second round of the 2014 World Cup.
''It’s been great. A couple of years ago I didn’t play enough games for Nigeria because of injury, but this year has been an amazing year. In the first game in the World Cup qualifiers against Algeria I scored twice which was very good, and helped us get the three points,'' Moses told Chelsea's official website.
''I’ve been playing further forward for Nigeria, in my natural position. I like to take the ball and attack defenders, but defensively I help out my full-back, too.''
Moses went on : ''It’s been a wonderful year, and now we have qualified for the World Cup. We have made the whole nation proud of us and that’s what we wanted to do.
''We’ve got an exciting team with some good young players. Come Russia, we will be ready to go.''
The Crystal Palace product is one of the nominees for the Confederation of African Football Player of the Year 2017 and BBC African Footballer of the Year.
