Manchester United Goalkeeper Romero Likely To Be Rested Vs NigeriaThe undisputed first-choice goalkeeper of the Argentinian national team Sergio Romero is likely to be rested for Tuesday's international friendly between the South Americans and three-time African champions Nigeria.

According to TyC Sports, manager Jorge Sampaoli has opted to try out Agustín Marchesín in goal by giving him game time, meaning Romero will only feature off the bench if he is considered by the coach.

América goalkeeper Marchesín has two caps for the Argentinian national team since debuting against Venezuela six years ago, and has never been named in a match day squad for games against Nigeria, whereas Romero has lasted the distance in three matches against the Africans.

This season, Marchesín has managed to keep a clean-sheet in three matches in the Mexican top division from a possible 16.

The 29-year-old was not in the match day squad in Argentina's 1-0 win against Russia on Saturday, Romero started in goal and Nahuel Ignacio Guzmán was named on the bench.

As for Nigeria, the early team news we have is either Chippa United's Daniel Akpeyi or Deportivo de La Coruña's Uzoho will be in between the pipes.
