Having previously made the bench in three matches across two seasons, Jos-born England youth-teamer Ashinme Kigbu was finally handed his debut for the Citizens.

Whilst Kigbu was replaced at the break, the highly-rated midfielder Tom-Dele Bashiru put in a full shift on the right side of a three-man midfield.

Two 16-year-olds Nathanael Ogbeta and Oluwafisayo Dele-Bashiru were not in City's match day squad.

Joining Manchester City in the last sixteen are Liverpool thanks to their 4-0 rout of Sevilla at Estadio Viejo Nervión .

Netherlands youth-teamer Bobby Adekanye came off the bench for the Reds in the 62nd minute and added more gloss to the scoreline by scoring the away team's fourth goal in stoppage time.

Adekanye has now netted three goals from five appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season.

Liam Millar, Herbie Kane and England U17 World Cup-winning striker Rhian Brewster were also on target.

Over to the Fußballpark BVB Hohenbuschei, Timothy Eyoma started and was involved for 85 minutes as Tottenham Hotspur beat Borussia Dortmund 3-1.

Goalkeeper Joshua Oluwayemi, Jubril Okedina, Chukwunonso Madueke, Moroyin Omolabi and Keanan Bennetts were missing from Spurs match day squad.

Eyoma was involved in the build up to Tottenham Hotpur's first goal scored by Shashoua; Jaden Brown and Kazaiah Sterling also hit target to give the visitors a 3-1 lead at the interval. Spurs are through to the next round.
