Arsenal 5 Huddersfield 0: Nigerian Pair Missing, Two Assists & One Goal For Germany Star
Published: November 29, 2017
Arsenal ruthlessly picked apart Huddersfield Town in a commanding 5-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening with Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom missing out on the action.
The Super Eagles winger dropped to the bench as he was replaced by Mesut Ozil in the only change from the starting XI that faced Burnley last weekend.
The Gunners wasted little time stamping their authority on the game as a moment of finesse from Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey found Alexandre Lacazette who stroked home to have Arsenal cruising as early as the 3rd minute.
The Frenchman nearly doubled his side's advantage in the 31st minute, rounding Jonas Lossl in the Huddersfield goal before seeing his chipped effort cleared off the line by Martin Cranie.
Oliver Giroud struck the bar after dancing past Lossl in the second period as Arsenal threatened for another goal before a quick-fire from both Giroud and Sanchez had Wenger' men out of sight, Mesut Ozil the architect of both goals.
The German would increase the lead in the 71st minute, breaking through to chip over a badly exposed Lossl for his team's fourth.
There was still time for Giroud to notch a late second though, the striker profiting from a Saed Kolasinac knock down to blast in the fifth on the 86th minute.
Iwobi would fail to make it off the substitute bench as the Gunners recorded their biggest win of the campaign yet.
Arsenal remain in fourth with the win with 28 points from 14 games while their opponents are in 14th with fifteen points after the same number of games.
