Newcastle 2 Leicester City 3: Ndidi Provides Assist For Mahrez Third Time This SeasonWilfred Ndidi continued his fine fine for Leicester City as the Foxes edged a five-goal thriller against Newcastle at St James Park on Saturday evening.

The Super Eagles star provided an assist for the Foxes' first goal scored by Riyad Mahrez, the third time the number twenty-five has laid on a goal for the Algeria national-teamer in the English top-flight this term.

Newcastle made a quick start in the encounter and were ahead in the 4th minute, Dwight Gayle's incisive run down the left flank was picked out by Mikel Merino, Gayle twisting into the box to tee up the Spaniard who met the cutback with no mistake from six yards out.

But the Super Eagles midfielder soon started the build up for the equaliser, robbing the opponents of possession to move forward and transfer to Riyad Mahrez who easily shrugged off his marker before finding the top right corner with his effort and pull his side level with 20 minutes on the clock.

The visitors nearly turned it around six minutes later, Demarai Gray outwitting Matt Richie before crossing for Danny Simpson who could only poke his effort wide as Leicester City continued to look the most likely to score for most part of the first period.

After the interval, Claude Puel's men would eventually complete their comeback in the hour mark, the Magpies defence had failed to deal with a splitting pass, Marc Albrighton knocking down a Mahrez lofted pass for Gray to latch onto and stab home to make it 2-1 as they gained a complete stronghold on the game.

But the hosts grabbed an equaliser via a corner with seventeen minutes left on the clock through Gayle who reacted quicker to put away with a shot which deflected off Harry Maguire and in after Merino had knocked down for him from the set piece.

An unscripted match winner arrived for the Foxes in bizarre fashion four minutes from time after it seemingly looked both sides would settle for a point apiece, Ayoze Perez's own goal consigned Rafa Benitez to another defeat, leaving them tethering above the relegation zone.
