Aaron Samuel Announces One Hundred Percent Increment For Winners At 5-A-Side Tourney
Published: December 14, 2017
The second edition of the Aaron Samuel 5-a-side football tournament will see an increase in prize monies, organizers have confirmed.
The grassroots football tournament is being organized by Nigeria international and CSKA Moscow forward, Aaron Samuel, and he has announced a 100% increase in prize monies from what winners collected during the first edition which held in 2015.
During the first edition, the winner went home with five hundred thousand naira (N500,000), while the first runner-up smiled to the bank with half that sum. But for the 2017 edition – which is the second as the tournament failed to hold last year – the winner will get one million naira (N1,000,000), while the first runner-up will receive half the sum.
Also, there is a 100% increment for the top scorer and Most Valuable Player (MVP), as winners in both categories will receive one hundred thousand naira each (N100,00).
“We have increased the prize monies for all the winnable categories,” said Aaron. “This was done to even encourage the teams and players a lot more than we did during the first edition,” the 23-year old added.
The tournament is one of the ways Aaron Samuel is giving back to the city he grew up in.
