Scunthorpe Boss Reacts To Hull, Crystal Palace, Barnsley Interest In Nigerian Winger
Published: December 28, 2017Scunthorpe United manager Graham Alexander has reacted to speculation linking in-form Nigerian winger Hakeeb Adelakun with an exit from the club in the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old has been directly involved in 14 goals (3 goals, 11 assists) in 28 appearances across all competitions so far this season, and this has attracted the attention of clubs higher up the English Football pyramid.
According to Daily Mail UK, Sunderland, Crystal Palace, Barnsley and Hull City are interested in signing Hakeeb Adelakun, but coach Alexander says they have not been directly approached for the winger's services.
''The situation with Haks is that I know as much as you guys, I read it yesterday in some of the media,'' Alexander told BBC Radio Humberside.
''I’ve not heard anything official or from our club so it’s speculation. At this time of the year the agents get to work and put stories out there.
''I’m not saying it’s unfounded – there may be interest but it’s not come our way.
''I’d expect interest in our good players and especially our young players, Hakeem comes into both of those categories.''
Hakeeb Adelakun comes off contract with Scunthorpe United at the end of the 2017-2018 season.
