Egypt striker Mohamed Salah has been crowned the CAF African Footballer of the year 2017 in the Aiteo CAF awards which took place in Accra on Thursday evening, the player having been recognised for the phenomenal roles he had played for club and country over the calendar year.
Salah who has been in awe-inspiring form for Liverpool since joining from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 came out top of the prestigious award ahead of club teammate and Senegal's Sadio Mane while Borussia Dortmund's striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finished in third place.
The 25-year old striker singlehandedly landed the Pharaohs their World Cup berth in Russia later this year, scoring five times along the way as they swept past their CAF group stage rivals.
