Chelsea Set To Announce Signing Of English-Born Midfielder Of Nigerian Parentage
Published: January 05, 2018
Premier League champions Chelsea are on the verge of announcing the signing of England international of Nigerian parentage, Ross Barkley.
According to The Times' Paul Joyce, Barkley will have a medical today at Chelsea after they agreed a fee in the region of 15 million pounds with Everton.
The 24-year-old has not played for the Toffees since the start of this season due to a hamstring complaint, but this is not going to stop Chelsea from signing the homegrown player.
Everton coach Sam Allardyce recently admitted that the club were resigned to losing Barkley adding that the midfielder had made up his mind to leave Goodison Park before he was appointed coach.
He has refused to commit his future to Everton with his current contract set to run out at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Antonio Conte 's team have also made inquiries with West Ham United about the possibility of signing striker Andy Carroll.
