Liverpool 4 Man City 3: Adarabioyo Not In 18, Argentina & Croatia Stars In Action
Published: January 14, 2018
Liverpool ended Manchester City's unbeaten league run this season with a stirring display in the 4-3 win at Anfield.
Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the floodgates after nine minutes, driving at the City defence before placing a low finish into the bottom corner with Ederson at full stretch.
Pep Guardiola's side rallied back pull level five minutes before the break, Sane jinking past Joe Gomez and Joel Matip before driving in from the tightest of spaces to make it 1-1.
But Manchester City were yet undone fourteen minutes after the restart, Roberto Firmino out muscling John Stones to lift over Ederson and in off the far post.
Sadio Mane picked out the top-left corner with a stunning effort a minute after the hour mark before Mohammed Salah lobbed in from 35 yards following an error from Ederson to make it four.
Manchester City substitutes Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan came off the bench to pull one apiece back for the Citizens but Liverpool held on to ensure the Premier League leaders kissed the dust for the first time in the Premier League this term.
Dominic Solanke who was named on the substitute bench for Liverpool watched on for the entire proceedings while City defender Tosin Adarabioyo was not named in his side's matchday squad.
City's Argentina internationals Nicolas Otamendi and Sergio Aguero, and Liverpool's Croatia defender Dejan Lovren went the distance for their respective teams.
