Published: January 21, 2018
Liverpool youngster, Bobby Adekanye put on a masterclass as his U23 side toppled Charlton U23s in a Premier League Cup clash at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium on Sunday, notching a double to go with his impressive display.
The 18-year old striker struck twice in the space of 20 minutes in the first period, putting the young Reds ahead in the 20th minute before beating Charlton goaltender, Maynard-Brewer for the second time five minutes into the break.
Luis Yamfam halved the deficit just before the intermission but further goals from Toni Gomes and Harry Wilson were enough to take Neil Critchley's side into the next round of the competition.
Turning out alongside the Netherlands-born starlet was Ovie Ejaria who was on the starting XI for Liverpool.
Joshua Umerah started for The Addicks in the clash, Samuel Nwosu was named on the bench for the visitors.
Up next, Liverpool will host Derby County U23 in the Premier League 2 on Sunday, January 28.
