Nigerian Whizkids Star As Chelsea Book Their Place In U18 PLC SemifinalsChelsea have booked their place in the semifinals of the U18 Premier League Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Sunderland at Academy of Light Training Ground on Saturday afternoon.

Whilst the versatile midfielder Tariq Uwakwe started for the young Blues, Faustino Anjorin entered into the fray in the final ten minutes of the second half.

It remained goalless on the hour mark but the visitors finally broke the deadlock when Gallagher converted a spot-kick after Taylor-Crossdale was brought down by the Black Cats goalkeeper.

But Chelsea's joy lasted lasted only three minutes as Greenwood dusted himself down to convert a penalty for the home team.

Anjorin had a chance to give Chelsea the lead but was denied by goalkeeper Woud, who saved his shot at the near post.

Chelsea grabbed a winner just before the end of the first half of extra-time when Castillo finished off a move involving involving McEachran and Gallagher.

Faustino Anjorin has been directly involved in 9 goals (4 goals, 5 assists) for Chelsea U18s in 14 appearances this season, while Uwakwe has scored once (3 assists) in 15 games.
