Done Deal: Brescia Bring In Youngest Nigerian Scorer In Europe Top Five Leagues
Published: February 01, 2018
Italian Serie B club Brescia announced the signing of Nigeria U20 international Orji Okonkwo hours before the close of the January transfer window on Wednesday.
The Biancoazzurri have snapped up the striker on loan until June 30, 2018, with the club obtaining an option to buy the player at the end of the season.
Brescia pulled off a transfer coup to lure Okonkwo to the club as he was heavily linked with a transfer to Avellino.
The youngster has scored 3 goals in 10 Serie A matches wearing the jersey of Bologna and was the second most efficient striker in the Italian top-flight in the first half of the season.
The Football College Abuja product has the honour of being the youngest Nigerian scorer in Europe's top five leagues this season, after finding the net against Sassuolo in September, aged 19 years 8 months and 5 days.
Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham (19 years 10 months and 24 days) and Wolfsburg's Felix Uduokhai (20 years 1 month and 13 days) hold the distinction of being the youngest Nigerian scorers in the Premier League and Bundesliga respectively.
