Published: February 23, 2018
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was questioned about the 'injury' suffered by Alex Iwobi towards the end of the Europa League encounter against Ostersunds at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
Television images showed the Nigeria international clutching his hamstring and it was thought he could be out of action for weeks and would miss the upcoming League Cup final against Manchester City and the Super Eagles friendlies against Poland and Serbia next month.
According to Wenger, the initial assessment is that Iwobi will be available for selection in the aforementioned matches.
Asked whether Iwobi is injured, Wenger told reporters at the post-match conference , ''No, he had cramp.''
Iwobi missed the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon in September 2017 on account of a thigh muscle strain
The Hale End Academy graduate made his 27th appearance of the season in all competitions against Ostersunds.
Despite losing 2-1 tonight, the Gunners qualified to the next round of the Europa League 4-2 on aggregate.
