Sunderland Coach Has Good News To Share On Fitness Of Two Nigerian Starlets
Published: March 02, 2018
Sunderland boss Chris Coleman has provided an update on the fitness of promising Nigerian duo Joel Asoro and Ovie Ejaria ahead of his side's EFL Championship fixture against Millwall at the Den on Saturday, March 3.
Liverpool loanee Ejaria has not been involved for the Black Cats in their last three matches due to an injury he picked up in training before the meeting vs Brentford, while the club's most promising teenager this season, Asoro, picked up a knock against Middlesbrough last weekend.
''There’s no Marc Wilson and no Paddy McNair, but Ovie trained and came off fine – he felt it a bit but came through the tough session – and provided there is no knock-on affect, then that should be okay,'' Coleman was quoted as saying by Sunderland's official website.
''Joel is okay.
''He took a whack last week and he has trained once this week – he trained yesterday – I think he should be available."
Former Super Eagles invitee Josh Maja is in contention to make Sunderland's match day squad for the 14th consecutive game, while Fred Onyedinma may feature for the London team.
