Premier League Top Six Battling For Sporting Lisbon Teen Sensation
Published: March 04, 2018
Europe top clubs are interested in the signature of Sporting Lisbon teen sensation Rafael Leao, according to reports.
The story from The Mirror says the 18-year-old Portuguese striker is attracting the attention of all Premier League's big guns including Manchester City and Manchester United.
City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs face competition from Spain in their bid to sign the teenager, with Real Madrid also registering their interest in him.
Regarded as one of the most promising talents in Europe, Leao has made only five appearances for Sporting CP's first team, scoring two goals.
The Portugal U21 international has also put himself in the shop window in this season's UEFA Youth League, netting five goals in six matches for the U19 squad.
To fend off the interest from England and Spain, the Lions offered him a new deal that will run out in 2022 last October, with a release clause of £53m inserted into the agreement.
