PL 2 Wrap: Nmecha Bags Hat-Trick For City; Bashiru Assists; Kehinde Starts; Adekanye Sub
Published: March 09, 2018
Manchester City claimed a 4-0 win over Derby County in the Premier League 2 on Friday, with England youth international of Nigerian descent Lukas Nmecha bagging a hat-trick for the Etihad outfit.
Luke Bolton opened the scoring for the visitors on three minutes after he was teed up by Tom Dele-Bashiru.
Three minutes before the intermission, captain Lukas Nmecha doubled City's advantage, grabbed a brace in the first minute of first-half stoppage time before putting the icing on the cake with his third goal in the 55th minute.
Both Nmecha and Dele-Bashiru debuted for Manchester City's first team against Leicester City in the League Cup back in December 2017.
Elsewhere, Manchester United recorded an impressive 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.
Tosin Kehinde, wearing the number 11 jersey for United, started and was involved for 80 minutes, while Reds winger Bobby Adekanye entered into the fray on 72 minutes.
Adam Lewis opened the scoring for Liverpool in sublime fashion, firing home a free-kick, Riley equalized before Gribbin netted the winner from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute.
Matthew Olosunde was not in Manchester United's match day squad and it would have been his eleventh appearance in the PL2 if he had featured.
