Ex-Eagles Defender Ajibade Babalade To Brian Idowu: Challenge Echiejile For LB Position
Published: March 10, 2018
Former Super Eagles defender Ajibade Babalade has expressed satisfaction by the choice of players invited by Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr for the international friendlies against Poland and Serbia.
Rohr this week named 28 players for both fixtures and Babalade has given thumbs up to the team as preparations gear up ahead of the World Cup in Russia.
"The coach has been doing a fantastic job and must continue to get the support of everyone. The team for the friendlies are okay," Babalade said to allnigeriasoccer.com.
" I just want the coach to continue to improve the quality of the team. He has not done badly. We are on the right track.
"However we need competitions for the regulars. I have said for instance that we need left full backs and I hope Brian Idowu will provide good competition for Elderson Echiejile in that position.''
Babalade was a member of the Super Eagles squad to the 1992 Africa Nations Cup in Senegal.
The Eagles will play Poland on March 23 in Wrocław and take on Serbia four days later in London.
