Liverpool Loanee Awoniyi Wins Goal Of The Month, Mouscron Miss Him
Published: March 11, 2018
Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi is in the spotlight once again after winning Royal Excel Mouscron's Goal of the Month award for February 2018, the Belgian First Division A club have announced.
Last month, the Nigeria U23 international found the net three times in matches against Standard Liege and RSC Anderlecht, and one of those strikes has been picked as the most eye-catching goal scored by a Royal Excel Mouscron player.
Everyone knows what happened in Awoniyi's last match for Royal Excel Mouscron, and the striker had to be omitted from the squad that faced KAS Eupen in the league on Sunday afternoon.
In his absence, the team from the Belgian province of Hainaut showed little or no bite in attack, conceding four goals without scoring.
Mouscron were able to score an impressive eight goals in February, with their Nigerian talisman directly involved in five goals (3 goals and two assists).
Taiwo Awoniyi will miss the first match in the playoffs and will return to action after the international break.
