Leicester City Loanee Musa Keeps To His Promise, Opens CSKA Account Vs Lyon
Published: March 15, 2018
Just over one week Leicester City loanee Ahmed Musa said that he'll soon start scoring, the number seven has kept to his promise by scoring a crucial goal for CSKA Moscow, his first in a competitive game since returning to the club in January, in their impressive 3-2 away win against Lyon in the Europa League on Thursday night.
With the Muscovites losing the first leg 1-0 in the Russian capital last week, they knew they had to score in France.
And after 39 minutes of play they went in front thanks to Aleksandr Golovin's goal but they could not hold onto their lead, with Gnaly Maxwell Cornet equalizing twelve minutes into the second half.
Two minutes later, Musa's moment came, the Super Eagles star took advantage of his marker's indecisiveness and sent the ball into the net from close range.
Just five minutes later, CSKA found themselves firmly in the driving seat as Pontus Wernbloom doubled their advantage, only for Mariano Diaz to volley the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-2 in the 71st minute.
In a tactical substitution, Musa was replaced by Brazilian striker Vitinho in the 73rd minute.
The Nigerian has now made 35 appearances in European competitions and has tallied seven goals in total.
