Nigeria Manager Rohr Wants Man Utd, Chelsea Target Lewandowski To Remain At Bayern
Published: March 21, 2018
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr wants Poland captain Robert Lewandowski to snub the overtures from Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid amid speculation linking the striker with a departure from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
Apart from being a German citizen, Rohr has connections with the Bundesliga champions as he represented the club from 1972 to 1974, and he believes Lewandowski deserves to win the Golden Ball.
''I support Bayern so I want him to stay. It's still a big club,'' Rohr told Przegląd Sportowy when asked if Lewandowski should stay or leave Bayern Munich.
Rohr added : ''I think it's too low (his Golden Ball position). He deserves the podium. To be fully appreciated, he lacks great success with Poland at the World Cup or the European Championships.''
The 30-year-old Lewandowski is contracted to Bayern Munich until the end of the 2020-2021 season.
The striker, who is in line to play against the Super Eagles on Friday, has scored over 140 goals for Bayern since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2014.
