Victor Moses, Iwobi, Obi, Idowu Start In 4-4-1-1 Formation As Nigeria Announce Starting XI
Published: March 23, 2018
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has made five changes to the side that thrashed Argentina 4-2 in their last game of 2017 for tonight's friendly against Poland at the National Stadium.
The German had already confirmed that Deportivo de La Coruña goalkeeper Francis Uzoho will start in goal ahead of Enyimba's Ikechukwu Ezenwa, who only trained with the squad twice.
Abdullahi Shehu, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun and Brian Idowu have gotten Rohr's nod in a four-man defense, meaning Chelsea's Ola Aina, Chidozie Awaziem and Elderson Echiejile drop to the bench.
Joel Obi comes in from the start in place of Eddy Onazi and will play as a central midfielder along with Wilfred Ndidi.
The two wing players in midfield are Arsenal's Alex Iwobi and Chelsea dazzler Victor Moses, while Kelechi Iheanacho will start the game away from his usual striker position as he has been deployed as a playmaker.
In the 4-4-1-1 formation to be used, former Watford star Odion Ighalo is in the lineup as the top striker.
Bursaspor defender William Troost-Ekong will serve as team captain tonight.
