Uzoho, Idowu Receive Message Of Support From Ekong After Classy Display On Full Debut
Published: March 24, 2018
Super Eagles captain on the night in yesterday's pre-World Cup friendly against Poland, William Troost-Ekong, has heaped praises on Francis Uzoho and Brian Idowu for their outstanding displays on their full debuts for the national team
The Amkar Perm left-back and Deportivo de La Coruña goalkeeper had made their international debuts off the bench in Nigeria's 4-2 win over Argentina last November before they were handed starting berths against the top European team.
It is worthy to mention that the Super Eagles did not concede a goal in the 135 minutes they spent on the pitch in the two games against Argentina and Poland.
''You have to recognize that today was good seeing that Brian made his full debut at left back. Francis made his full debut as our goalkeeper today for the first time,'' said William Troost-Ekong at Friday's post-match press conference.
''So it is promising to see that we can organize a team and keep a clean-sheet regardless of the chances that they had.
''Even though we have some young players and missing our captain John Obi Mikel. It was a good day for us in that sense but I think we learnt a lot as well about where we can improve for the future.''
Chelsea right wing-back Victor Moses ended up netting the winner for the Super Eagles from the penalty spot in the 61st minute.
