Chelsea Star of Nigerian Descent Seeks World Cup Place For Three Lions Over Super EaglesChelsea striker who is on loan at Welsh side, Swansea, Tammy Abraham is hoping to break into Gareth Southgate's England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia this summer with a view to getting a first team place at Chelsea.

Born Kevin Oghenetega Tamaraebi Bakumo- Abraham to Nigerian parents but raised in England, the England youth international rebuffed the chance to represent his father's country despite the efforts made by the Nigeria Football Federation boss, Amaju Pinnick who is friends with the player's father who is from Warri, Delta State.

"If I got into the World Cup squad I would be knocking on the door at Chelsea," the 20-year-old was quoted as saying by The Mirror UK.

"I have to finish (the season) strong, look to the World Cup squad this summer and then focus on Chelsea.

"My aim is to go back and do well with Chelsea.

"I like to believe Chelsea is where I will go through and do well. I have been there since I was six years old. My dream is to break into the first team."

Abraham is currently with the England Under-21s ahead of today's (Saturday) friendly with Romania at Molineux and Tuesday's Euro 2019 qualifier with Ukraine in Sheffield.

Chelsea currently have on their fold Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud in their striking roles.
