Ex-West Brom And Charlton Athletic Defender Calls For Nigeria's Defensive CoachFormer Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje has advocated for a defensive-minded coach to be appointed in the Nigerian senior national side.

Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com from England on his thoughts regarding Nigeria's friendlies ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia, Sodje who was capped four times by Nigeria said:

"They (Super Eagles) kept a clean sheet in the friendly against Poland, great.

"But a massive work and a system of how to defend better as a group is needed going forward.

"Bottom line, I have always said it and maybe they have one, if they don’t, they better get one defensive coach as soon as possible.

"This is because you (a team) win nothing without a defensive coach. Good defenses win you tournaments," Sodje, who played for clubs like West Bromwich Albion, Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth further told allnigeriasoccer.com from his base.

The Eagles are already in London preparing for Tuesday night's friendly against Serbia with head coach Gernot Rhor likely to tweak his selections after the 1-0 win over Poland on Friday.
