Rohr Explains Why England Will Find It Hard To Beat Nigeria At Wembley
Published: March 27, 2018
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr feels the England team will not be at full throttle when they battle Nigeria in a pre-World Cup friendly at the National Stadium in London on June 2, 2018.
The German noted that there are no winter-breaks in the Premier League and the Three Lions stars will be tired after a demanding season, with some of the players also featuring in the Champions League, Europa League, League Cup and FA Cup.
''It is also a very young team, for me this team can do very well in the World Cup,'' Rohr said to ExtraTimeSoccerLive.
''The problem with the English team is that the season is so long, in June it is not so easy for them to be at the top level.
''I think they are well prepared, they have some young players who can recover very quickly.
''The game is at Wembley , the temple of football. This is one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. For us it is a wonderful adventure to go there.''
Former England youth-team stars Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses and Ola Aina are in line to face the Three Lions, while Tottenham Hotspur midfielder of Nigerian descent Dele Alli might be on parade for the hosts.
The Super Eagles drew goalless with England when both nations clashed at the 2002 World Cup.
