Published: April 03, 2018
Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that highly-rated American-born striker Sophia Omotola Omidiji is in line to make her international debut for Nigeria Women's National Team with the Nigerian Federation handing her a late call-up for Friday's friendly against France.
The S.B.V. Excelsior star earlier trained with the Falconets ahead of their 2016 World Cup qualifier against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Sophia Omidiji released a statement to allnigeriasoccer.com shortly after her invitation to the Super Falcons.
''Honored and Proud to have gotten a call-up with the Nigerian women’s National team for the friendly against France this coming Friday,'' Sophia Omidiji said.
''Will give everything I’ve got and then some for the country. Honored and delighted to go do battle with my sisters- all deserving and amazing players that I’ve watched over the years that have all made our country proud.
''Dreams definitely do come true. Just a small girl from Vegas with passion for football and green white green running through her veins.
''Every and anybody that’s ever believed in me, said something positive about me, encouraged and motivated me and contributed to this- I thank you. Truly no words to describe the feeling but to thank everyone.''
Omidiji is not the only American-born striker in Nigeria's squad list to take on France as Edmond, Oklahoma native Courtney Dike has also been invited for the friendly at the Stade MMArena in the city of Le Mans, France on Friday, 6th April 2018.
