Sparta Rotterdam In Talks With Their Nigerian Captain Over New Deal
Published: April 03, 2018
Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam have officially announced that Belgian-born Nigerian midfielder Ryan Sanusi's contract with the club will run out at the end of this season on June 30, 2018.
The former Belgium U20 international is one of three players, the others being Loris Brogno and Paco van Moorsel, whose contracts have been formally terminated, an obligation for the club for players who have signed contracts more than once.
That is not to say it is confirmed that Sanusi will depart Sparta Rotterdam at the end of the season as the club are planning to open talks with their captain in the hope of securing his long-term future.
The 26-year-old was appointed captain of Sparta Rotterdam in January 2018 by new coach Dick Advocaat.
Since joining the Rotterdam outfit in the summer of 2015, he has made 87 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals (11 assists) from his defensive midfield position.
Previously, Ryan Sanusi represented Belgian club Beerschot AC, and Dutch clubs Willem II and FC Oss.
He is the cousin of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembélé.
