Osinachi Ohale Faulted For Seven Goals Conceded By Nigeria From Inside The Box
Published: April 07, 2018
American-born striker Sophia Omidiji still has to wait for her international debut as Super Falcons Swedish manager Thomas Dennerby did not utilize her off the bench in their 8-0 loss to France at the MMArena, Le Mans on Friday evening.
The S.B.V. Excelsior star was one of three players that watched proceedings from the bench for the entirety of the game, the others being goalkeeper Onyinyechukwu Okeke and midfielder Ogonna Chukwudi.
Njoku and Ogbonna replaced Chukwunonye and Ebere at half-time, Courtney Dike was introduced in the 61st minute for Sunday and Brighton's Umotong earned her second cap after replacing Ordega in the 73rd minute.
Dennerby deployed a 4-4-2 formation against the French team, with Chukwunonye and Ohale pairing in central defense, captain Rita Chikwelu and Ngozi Okobi occupied the central midfield positions while Esther Sunday and Francisca Ordega played on the left and right side of midfield respectively but more advanced.
It is worth mentioning that the eight goals netted by Les Bleues were scored from inside the box and Vittsjö GIK defender Ohale Osinachi should take blame for seven of those goals as she marked poorly or made defensive errors leading up to the goals.
Faith Ikidi scored an unfortunate own goal in the 84th minute after she stretched out her left leg to intercept a pass.
