Super Eagles Hopeful Kehinde Suffers Relegation With Manchester United U23
Published: April 16, 2018
Manchester United U23s have been relegated to the Premier League 2 Division Two after Derby County's latest victory,
the young Rams pipping West Ham U23s to a 1-0 victory on Monday afternoon.
Jayden Bogle's 53rd minute strike for Derby County proved enough, in a game which had Nigerian trio of Olatunji Akinola, Oladapo Afolayan and Bola Alese starring for West Ham.
The result at the Moor Farm Training Centre put Derby on 24 points and into 10th place on the 12-team standings, rendering United's next league game versus Everton inconsequential.
Generally, Tosin Kehinde's United have had their league status under serious threat, having under-performed for most part of the season and would now be playing in the PL 2 Division 2 next season.
With just four wins from a possible 21 games, Richard Sbragia's boys have lost ten and drawn seven (a league-high) of their games while having the third worst defensive record with 38 goals conceded.
Young Nigerian starlets Tosin Kehinde and Matthew Olosunde have made 16 and 10 league outings for the young Red Devils this season and while they have impressed individually, the team's performances have not been consummate enough to pull them to safety.
It still remain to be seen whether the talented Kehinde who has been touted to be farmed out on loan for first team experience would drop down to play in a lower tier.
