Super Eagles Top Striker Ighalo Scores Four Goals In Chinese Super League
Published: April 21, 2018
Odion Ighalo scored four well-taken goals for Changchun Yatai in their 5-2 win over Guizhou Hengfeng in a CSL encounter at the Guiyang Olympics Sports Center on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to his latest class act, the former Watford striker has failed to find the back of the net for both club and country across five games, managing a solitary goal since the turn of the year in all competitive outings.
But the 28-year old got his mojo working again in Guiyang, opening scoring from the spot in the 24th minute after drawing a foul from Fan Yunlong in the opposition's area while he was also on hand to round off the seven-goal thriller in the third minute of added time.
The striker added further strikes in the 38th and 86th minutes to add to Tan Long's effort while Du Wei and Wang Fang's goals were scant consolation for the hosts who felt the effervescence of the Nigerian at its utmost.
Following the result, the Yatai-based club move into 10th on the CSL league log with their second win of the season in eight points while their opponents are lodged in 15th in the relegation zone on three points.
Ighalo and his side are back in action on Tuesday, 24th when they travel to the South Lake Sports Centre to take on Sichuan.
