Agent Confirms Russian-Based Super Eagles Striker Will Miss World Cup
The 27-year-old Nigeria international Sylvester Igboun has been a regular player at FK Ufa from day one, and this season, Igboun has six goals in 24 matches and is even the club's top scorer in the Russian Premier League.

The World Cup will be staged in Russia this summer, but the Super Eagles will be without Igboun, who played six matches when Sunday Oliseh was coach of the national team.

''Sly was really happy to join the national team at the time, but there is a new coach now, and Sly is not included. And that's okay for him,'' says Igboun's Danish agent Søren Barslund to bold.dk.

"He will only join if it is for the right reasons, so it will probably be a World Cup without him.''

Igboun has strong ties to Denmark and has proclaimed that he will return to play in the country one day but his agent has ruled out this summer.

''Denmark is Sly's second home country, but it is not right for him to come back right now. At least not in the coming year.

"He is doing well in Russia, and he has a year left of his contract with Ufa.

''Unless something happens radically, Scandinavia is not applicable to him within the next year's time at least,'' added Barslund.

Igboun made his debut for the Super Eagles in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania on September 5, 2015.
